International Women’s Day

Monday 8th March is International Women’s Day, a nationwide event that recognises the achievements of women while calling for greater equality. While every day is a celebration of our people, TXM Plant is taking this opportunity to celebrate women across our business who make a difference, from our operators to depot managers and office staff.

This year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge. We are all responsible for our thoughts and actions, therefore we must take accountability, challenging and calling out gender bias and inequality. In seeking out and celebrating women’s achievements, we can collectively help to create an inclusive world. In October 2020, TXM Plant signed the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter, launched by the Railway Industry Association (RIA) and Women in Rail (WR). By working together, TXM Plant, along with the UK’s rail industry, is committed to working together to build a more balanced, higher-performing sector backed by over 100 organisations.

Brian Reynolds, CEO, commented, “International Women’s Day is a great opportunity to drive diverse and inclusive behaviours, creating a gender balance across the industry. We hire the best people to drive our business goals. By continuing to support underrepresented groups, we create gender-balanced teams who are more engaged, collaborative, and motivated to work hard towards safety and reliability.”

Bev Turner, HR Advisor at TXM, said, “We work hard to improve the diversity of our teams across the business, continuously driving innovation and change in the ways we work. It is so important to support initiatives like International Women’s Day. We’re proud to be showcasing some of the fantastic successes of our female employees, highlighting the rail industry as a career path open to all.”
