London Liverpool Street Station Platform Extension Project

Client: BCM Construction / Pod-Trak

Duration: December 2020

Location: Liverpool Street Station

Project Overview:

TXM Plant assisted in the extension of platforms 16-18 at London’s Liverpool Street Station to increase capacity for the new 205m Full-Length Units (FLU) trains. The project is set to be completed successfully by 10th May 2021; works include modifications to track, platforms, signalling, S&T, and associated infrastructure, to support these changes.

TXM Solution:

Beginning Christmas eve 2020, works included delivering materials to site, the removal and renewal of track, and cable installation. Through Stage 1, TXM Plant supplied 4 Unimogs, 40 trailers, and 40 boxes, covering 107 shifts in assisting Pod-Trak in supporting BCM Construction in these works.

The need for machines was extended twice, with TXM reacting quickly to cover the shifts as required. Teams worked innovatively with the wider supply chain to provide solutions in construction delivery and management.

Result:

Several challenges were exposed during works including, limited access opportunities available. Stage 1 of the works were completed successfully, on time with zero accidents and incidents, with minimal disruption to passengers, the public, and the environment, demonstrating collaborative working between stakeholders to complete works at short notice.

“A massive thanks to you and the TXM team. Liverpool St was a resounding success; the issues encountered were out of our control but, with our combined response, teams recovered a potentially catastrophic situation for both our client BCM and Crossrail! Please pass on mine and PTL thanks to all involved and a Happy New Year!”– Andy Pearce, Divisional Manager P-Way (Pod-Trak)
