Crossrail
Client: Carillion Rail
Duration: December 2016
Location: Central London
Project Overview:
Crossrail managed the development of the new railway through Central London, now known as the Elizabeth Line in December 2016. The project aimed to improve journey times by offering better connections, easing congestion throughout the City of London.
TXM Solution:
Working on behalf of Carillion Rail, TXM Plant was instrumental in the delivery of this vast rail infrastructure project, providing support as well as plant and operators. Works allowed for the introduction of more electric Great Western Railway (GWR) services, helping to prepare for the arrival of the Elizabeth line.
Over Christmas (2016), TXM Plant assisted Carillion to deliver the largest ever work bank undertaken on the Crossrail project, with great success. The project consisted of:
- 42km of new tunnels
- 10 new stations
- Over 50km of new track
- Integration of 3 signalling systems
- Upgrades across the existing infrastructure
Results:
Delivered on time and within budget, works were completed successfully in December 2016. Andy Joy, Managing Director at Carillion Rail, commented, “I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you on behalf of the business, what you and your team have achieved over the last 10 days is fantastic and a tribute to the significant efforts put in by all.”
