Barmouth Viaduct Restoration
TXM Plant takes immense pride in assisting our client, Alun Griffiths, in delivering this iconic restoration work. The Barmouth Viaduct, a true engineering marvel, has stood the test of time, and now it’s getting the TLC it deserves.
The Barmouth Viaduct, also known as Barmouth Bridge, is a historic and iconic railway viaduct located in Wales. It spans across the Mawddach Estuary, connecting the town of Barmouth on the western side with Morfa Mawddach on the eastern side. Beyond its functional role in transportation, the viaduct has become a popular attraction in its own right. Visitors often come to walk or cycle across it, taking in the stunning views and appreciating its historical value.
TXM Plant’s dedicated team is working tirelessly with our client Alun Griffiths to support with Rail Plant to preserve the viaduct’s rich heritage while ensuring its longevity for future generations to enjoy. As part of a Network Rail £30m investment into the future of Barmouth viaduct, both the timber and metallic sections have now undergo major refurbishment works. The timber section of the works includes a like-for-like renewal of the timber sections of the viaduct and the historic swing bridge elements will be retained, with 820m of track replaced to secure the future of the bridge; the metallic element is underway as we speak.
